I had Netflix for about two years and was very happy with their service, then Blockbuster came out with their service. At that time they were the same price and I got a coupon for a free rental once a month. That was enough to make me switch. Then Blockbuster started the return the video to the store for a free rental. WOW! That was amazing. Everything was good and fine for awhile until they decided to up the price by $8/month and only allow five in-store returns. We watch a lot of movies so I had to decide to keep 3 movies at a time and five excanges a month or go to 3 at a time and unlimited exchanges for $34.99/month. Plus, the one coupon a month went away. I got tired of this and decided to check Netflix out. It is still $16.99/month for 3 at a time and 17 hours of instant viewing on-line. The on-line movies are older and not a lot there that I plan to watch. For the same price as Blockbuster, I can get six movies at a time and 36 hours on-line for $35.99 from Netflix.
My question is, are these the only two players out there? What do you use?

I tried several others before I decided (Blockbuster, which I was very unimpressed with; and WalMart's service, which I didn't like either) and have used Netflix ever since.

Loyal Flixer here. Never even tried Blockbuster, and I think WalMart has withdrawn from the market (although I'm not completely positive there).

We've had very good luck with Netflix so far, although we're only in the 1-movie-at-a-time category. It's very easy to use and they're always delivered on time or a day early.

Netflix has a bad reputation for throttling-- that is, not acknowledging your movies as sent and sending out more if you're in the higher categories of watching. But I've never had a problem with them, and supposedly they've stopped since they lost the class-action lawsuit. I've had Netflix since 2003 or so, and they've always been cool if my movies were lost on the way back (which happened only twice), and I think were a result of not including the envelope since they were later found. I like Netflix.
But I do have some friends who switched to Blockbuster because it took Netflix about a week and half to get their movies back and send more out.

I got Blockbuster when it was good... then they switched it up on me. Not happy about that, really.
Even so, though, it still works out for me to go with Blockbuster with a store right around the corner. But the price hike and service drop were not pleasant.

I'm hardly surprised that Blockbuster started out nice but then started dicking people. It's what they've always done. In fact, it's what all Huizenga-owned companies have always done.
