As I'm writing this, Ohio State is up on Penn State 17 to 7. Looks like we're for real. Anybody else here go to OSU? Or an alumni?

I don't know how "real" tOSU is for leading a weak Penn State team in a weak Big Ten conference.
Then again, I don't know how "real" tOSU was after going undefeated during the regular season last year and getting embarassed in the NC game, either.
tOSU still has several middling teams left to play this year - and will not even play a Top 10 team this season.
In fact, if they do go undefeated, it is quite possible that every one of their wins will be against a team that does not even finish the season in the Top 20 - and all but one will likely be out of the Top 25.
Good luck in your bowl, though.

Have you actually watched any of their games? I know it's hard to accept, but they are actually pretty good.

The Ducks are looking pretty darn real, too. But we'll have to see how hey fare against Arizona State next week.

I go to OSU! Sort of. And it's the one in Oregon.
ASU had better win, or that's a double bummer. Although, I really don't care much about sports, so I won't be bothered that much.

Yes, leading Akron 3-2 at the half was just staggeringly impressive. Being down 7-3 at the half to Washington St. was equally impressive.
To be honest, it's easy to look good against bad teams - which is what Ohio State has played.
Even against this weak competition, tOSU is 40th nationally in total offense against an average total defense ranked 74th nationally, and 33rd in scoring offense against an average scoring defense ranked 73rd nationally.
They've benefited from better teams losing ahead of them in the rankings - because those better teams actually played challenging competition.
Not a single team on their schedule has a win against a team that will be ranked after this weekend.

Well, Ohio State's strength of schedule was 71st in the country prior to today (per Sagarin) - for what it's worth.

Yay! Ducks beat ASU and went to #3 in the standings, nipping at LSU's heels!
And I just can't fathom all this talk about Dixon. Last year's second half of the season had me cursing his name with his seemingly hundreds of interceptions and mis-cued plays. This year, he's playing well enough that he's a contender for the Heisman....

Just because I haven't chimmed in on this topic yet...
GO BUCKS! Great to see them playing so well this year again. Yes, they haven't been tested as strongly as some other schools, but they also haven't lost a game they shouldn't have. There is nothing easy about the next two weeks either. Should be a fun finish to the Big Ten season. November 17th is looming large once again!

I'm just hoping Michigan beats tOSU and puts an end to all the "Big Ten in the NC" nonsense and we end up with a game worth watching.

Just a small detail, since the creation of the Bowl Championship Series. The Ohio State University and only The Ohio State university has played for a national title from the big ten. They won in 2002 and lost, in rediculous fasion, last year.

beatnix, all that means nothing when perhaps the best team in your conference... lost to a Div I-AA this year.
All the stats about anything football related that date back prior to 2003 have exactly zero to do with the present year, as none of those players are even on those teams anymore.
Dating back to 2003, the Big Ten is 4-5 in BCS bowls. Dating back to 2005, the Big Ten is 2-3 in BCS bowls. Look at last year specifically, the Big Ten was blown out of their two BCS bowls.
This year, the two teams tied for first in the conference have beaten no OoC team of significance and had far more trouble with weak teams than one would expect(e.g. Akron, Washington, App State).
Granted, I would enjoy seeing tOSU get plastered again in the NC now that BC is no longer in the hunt (had it been a tOSU v. BC game, I would have had to root for tOSU). But I'd much rather see any of the following matchups:
Oregon, LSU, Kansas/Oklahoma, WVU
I will be rooting for Michigan, though, home against tOSU. To have the Big Ten champion be a team whose only OoC wins were against E Michigan (3-7) and Notre Dame (1-8), who lost to App State (who has two Div I-AA losses), would be priceless.

Our American Environmental History class is watching Ohio play Michigan next week Saturday with my professor and his wife over dinner. I'm still undecided whether to incur the wrath of the professor's wife by cheering for Michigan, or remain stoic about both teams.

Love it. Still pulling for Michigan next week, though. Knock tOSU right out of BCS bowl contention entirely, and leave the Big Televen representative as a team that hasn't shown it can beat anyone of consequence other than Big Televen teams.

You could cheer for both Ohio and Michigan, since they don't play each other. Ohio State plays Michigan; Ohio is on a bye week.

GEAUX TIGERS! My boyfriend and I and one our friends were so loud last night watching the game that our dogs were scared...but man what an awesome game. My mom lives in New Orleans right across the river from the aquarium and she said last night was the loudest she has ever heard the city (even during Mardi Gras).
