How?

Our fax machine isn't working. It costs more to fix than replace. If I can do it over the internet for free, I'll do that today.

I've never found a reliable free fax sending service over the net.

If it's something you have in electronic format that can be printed and faxed (and isn't personal/confidential), I'd be happy to do it for you, though.

Edit: also, a lot of copy places will let you fax stuff either for free with another purchase, or for 3-10 cents per page.

If your fax or scanner can be networked to your computer and you can then convert things into PDF... but I think it takes software or something.

We just scan and e-mail, whenever possible.

Get a modem. You know, the things that people used before cable and dsl. That, plus a printer and scanner and appropriate software can be used for faxing.

Yeah, I used to use a modem and faxing software. Worked pretty well. Otherwise I'd probably go a copy center, or do the PDF-via-email route. Mac OS X has print-to-PDF support built in. For Windows(*) I recommend the CutePDF program.

(*) I use Windows XP Professional. I don't know if newer flavors of Windows have built-in print-to-PDF support.

eFax only lets you receive for free, not send.
