adfectio your name resembles awesomeguy, why? Because you are very masculine and radiate all manner of coolness. You are a gentleman and a scholar, you have wisdom far beyond your years and I wish you long life. I just can't get over how much of a manly man you are.
I really thought this deserved its own thread.

I remixed a remix, and it was back to normal.

I have to admit I wouldn't mind being able to fire a few of my coworkers. Of course, that would make my workload unbearable.

I don't mind firing them when they have clearly violated not only basic common sense and human decency, but also the regulations of the workplace and the laws of the land.

Firing people for just plain not meeting the standards of the job is more difficult than firing the ones today. How many chances should you give someone to finally understand what is expected of them?

No matter how hard and how long I would try to come up with an good answer to this question I don't think I'd ever be able to. [Frown]

I remember a girl i once worked with in the food service industry got fired after about three months of work. That was because we had trainee's doing better work than she ever did though.

One was fired for sexual harrasment. One was fired for theft. One was fired for dishonesty and a charming inability to show up for work. A guy who holds a position somewhere between my and my boss but isn't exactly my boss(I know, it's confusing to me as well) was fired for entering false information into the computer that would lead to his friend (my subordinate) receiving money he did not earn.

Lovely, no?

The last few months have been a real pleasure to show up and handle their workload for them. I am not sorry to see any of them go, and I sincerely hope they are replaced by people with brains.

The upside is that I didn't hire a single one of them, so there is no indictment of me.

It is a good question. If someone isn't hopelessly incompetent, but still doesn't meet the standards for adequate, how long should they be allowed to try before you give up on them?

They aren't running your business into the ground, but they aren't allowing it to thrive either. What do you do after you've talked it out with them 3 times, 5 times, 10 times? Where do you draw the line.

I think talking to them once should be enough. I'm all for second chances, but third, fourth, fifth, etc. will do nothing. If they don't fix the problem the first time, then it's probably not going to get fixed

We had someone like that where I work, though I think he was closer to the incompetent end of the spectrum than dead center. When business got slow we just stopped scheduling him(not that he would have showed anyway) and told him he was on-call only.

I never called.
