Wow.

What a change a season makes, eh? While the first season had a few dark episodes, it was mostly focused on light, fun, Silver Age style stories.

In this Season's opener an entire civilization 44 trillion strong dies, a Legionnaire dies, -and- the episode ends with Legion headquarters in shambles and the bad guy apparently triumphant.

Digging the revamped designs! Glad to see Cham's been added on as a core cast member.

Not so sure about "Superman X". I'd have rather seen Mon-El.

Season 2 already? Man, I'm so behind on this show. I'm glad you're enjoying it though, as it means I'll probably like it once I get a chance to catch up.

Well, look at the bright side. Superman X could be Mon-El with amnesia.
Remember the Superboy-like amnesiac villain of last season? Could be Superman X, Mon-El, or both.

Superman X is a clone. His origin isn't a secret.

If you mean the Phantom Zone guy, that depends on if he turns up again. He claimed to be General Zod's son.

That's what Superman X and the Legionaires (and the audience) are told. Doesn't mean that the writers don't have a plot-twist in mind that'll negate the clone*story.
Or decide to twist the plot in the future...depending on the producers' negotiations with the holders of the Superboy copyright, or on how broadly the courts apply the Superboy copyright.

* eg Is PeterParker still alive?

How did everyone take Brainiac's feelings towards Superman? Even the other characters were pointing out that it was going a bit beyond hero worship. You don't see too many Saturday morning tunes showing a really close relationship between two male characters that, while non-sexual, is still a lot closer than most people have been conditioned to be comfortable with.

I hope they have the time to spend on Triplicate Girl becoming Duo Damsel. That's got to be a huge shock to the system - hopefully it's not glossed over.

I was slightly disappointed not to get a glimpse of Karate Kid in the opening credits. He's in this season, but now I fear he'll be relagated to a two second cameo.

The reason why Brainy is SO anxious to be Superman's friend is because he knows Brainiac 1 is recorded in history as Superman's number 2 arch enemy, right after Luthor.

Odd how many fans forget that. [Smile]

Karate Kid is in the credits. Watch them again. It's just they're using the Kitson design.

They aren't going to negate the clone story, they've already said one of the points about X is that he's a clone. [Smile]

They already decided to just call teen-Clark "Superman".

Wrong super-hero universe.

Just an example of writers changing "the true story" when it suits them.

aspectre, do you ever offer proof for your wild claims of conspiracies and lies?

Just curious, because I have yet to see you give a single instance of backing beyond "they're lying! Because they just ARE!"

It's really lame.

What lying or conspiracy? The writers are creating fiction. That's why they get paid.

Speculating on ways they can take the story needs no defense. It's expectable, like a mystery reader making guesses about the solution to a crime.

Anybody see the EonKid? From the commercials, I expected to take a pass on watching it.
Turns out to be pretty good so far.

Finally caught the season premier. And you're right, Puffy Treat.
If the writers change Superman X from a clone to Mon-EL, they'd be retconning just for the sake of messing with the audience.

Turns out that the appeals court ruled in favor of Warner last July, which cleans up the competing claims to ownership of the copyright. So unless the appeal gets overturned -- which looks unlikely -- the Siegal estate won't have much say on the use of the names Superboy or ClarkKent beyond the users' wish to maintain good will.

Never say never. The Siegels have won back a portion of the Superman copyright, under which the Superboy copyright might be considered subsumed. And another from the LosAngelesTimes for those who won't register with the NewYorkTimes.
