A fairly good, diverse spread of titles and genres this year. From mature readers autobiographical indie comics to a new Jughead story...and everything in between.

Favorite out of the books I got: Owly and Friends 2008 Sampler

I swear, Andy Runton creates the most appealing all-ages comics in the universe. [Cool]

The loser:

Marvel, who decided that their free Iron Man/Hulk comic would be filled with nothing but ads for upcoming Hulk and Iron Man comics. Way to tell instead of show. [Wink]

Cool weird longbox find: A complete run of Tailgunner Jo, the bizarre experimental 1980s comicbook series about a cyborg assasin who happens to have a ten year old girl and a kingdom of talking animals living in his brain.

It was a bit ahead of its time. [Big Grin]

Sophie loves Owly. I just wish Runton actually published on something resembling a regular schedule.

Yeah. It was two years between Just a Little Blue and A Time to Be Brave.

Still, the quality makes it more than worth it. [Smile]

I got a huge stack of free comics today. Haven't read them all yet, but here are my favorites so far:

Kid Houdini and the Silver Dollar Misfits: Fun concept, sort of Scooby Doo-ish, but better then Scooby! Like the artwork too. The other story was good too. Though Houdini was better.

Drafted: Its great to see a cool sci-fi concept like this in comics!

Atomic Robo: Another cool sci-fi concept. Wackier then Drafted though. Man, both of these comics I'd like to collect. Too bad I don't have the money too. lol.

Amelia Rules!: Ok, I've only read one story from this so far, but it was really good. All ages books should be like this!

EC Comics: VERY cool. Only read the first story so far, but this is a neat book!

Graphics Illistrated: Same as EC!

And...oh man the list goes on and on. So many GREAT free comics this year!! Haven't read all my books yet though, but I can't wait too.

So-So:

Where's Image this year?! They didn't have a free comic!! Or did I miss it?

Ya, the Hulk/Iron Man book could have been better, BUT Marvel did release an Iron Marvel Adventures book and an X-men book too. Haven't read them yet, so I don't know how they are.

Oh and DC with All-Star Superman #1? I like it, but I already have it (and imagine alot of other people do too). DC should have released something new here!

The Dabel Bros preview didn't have any OSC in it, but OSC did write the intro to one of the "how to do comics" comics.

The theater I went to yesterday to see Iron Man was actually giving out the free comic book day books (they had worked with some local comic shop). I got the Marvel Adventures story with Iron Man, Hulk, and Spider-Man. It was the best of the ones I saw that they were giving out. I haven't read it yet though.
