The movie that will kick off the new TV series.

Looks pretty fun...taking some of the style (and hopefully the excitement) of Genndy Tartakovsky's series and expanding on the story.

Best remark I've heard about the Clone Wars cartoons:

"It almost makes up for Annie getting his first kiss by telling Padme' she's not like sand..."

Worst remark:

"They totally don't follow continuity! They show the Jedi as being too powerful!"

(I guess the remark is right...certainly they make one wonder if the Jedi seen in the Prequels needed more iron, or something.)

I loved what I've seen of Clone Wars Jedi ARE supposed to be OP by default.

Also hopefully popularity for Clone Wars will allow for Samurai Jack to be revived.

Depends on what you mean by "revived". Genndy's work on his Clone Wars series ended years ago, he moved on to direct Power of the Dark Crystal for the Henson company. He -has- gotten the money to do a Samurai Jack movie that will tie up some of the loose ends of the television series...hopefully including the big ones, like if Jack ever defeats Aku and returns home.

Mmmmmm... that Dark Crystal movie/series looks pretty cool actually!

But the UrSkeks are numbered less than 8 now... not many left of their race... so 8 Skesis and 8 UrRu's...

To me the animation is pretty disappointing - particularly the faces, but also the way people move. I would much prefer hand drawn animation, or even something digital but more consistently over-stylized, to the plastic doll look of those people.

Yeah, the animation looks like a step up from Jane and the Dragon, but still seems like watching a video game.

I know there are times when better technology can make some things easier, but one has to be careful not to switch technologies too soon, or there is a risk of lower quality (at least at first).

The animation is done pretty cheaply, so they can easily animate 100 + episodes by their deadline. This keeps the characters at pretty low-poly levels, looking very much like action figures. The scenes with starships, however, are stunning. They are rigid figures that don't have too many joints, but their detail is staggering and the way the animators can make those fly around is pretty cool.

I kind of went through the same thought process when I decided to make a video game. My game just has 3D spaceships, because it is a real pain to make convincing humanoid figures using shareware.

Yeah, it should be kept in mind that this "film" was originally going to be the pilot mini-series episodes of the television show...their budget and time were quite limited.

Looks interesting.

I hope the music in the actual movie and series isn't just recycled from the movies.

I don't think I'd pay $9 to see this though.

Yeah, it's pretty dumb that the theaters charge insane prices for a single screening of even the cheapest movies.

Looks like it might be interesting as a tv show or dvd, but I really doubt that I would pay full theater prices to see it.
