Everyone knows what a wii is, I'm sure. Good, because wiis are in this story: I went to a sleepover at my Laurel's house, and when I walked in her door, I noticed she had a wii sitting next to the TV. Me: Laurel, I want a wii! Rain on your wedding day isn't irony IMO. It can be construed as such, maybe, but it's a bit of a stretch. I would say it's more unfortunate than ironic.

Rain on your wedding day, a free ride because you've paid for it, and a black fly in your wine are not irony, unless there's been a setup for them to be ironic previously in the story. I've always disliked that song. It's all the punchlines with none of the jokes.

I actually think it is ironic to be offered a free ride after you've paid. And a case of bad timing.

But the phrasing-- "It's a free ride when you've already paid"-- doesn't necessarily mean that's what it means. It could be that you got tricked into paying for something that should have been free. And I don't think being offered a free ride after you've paid is ironic in every situation, only some; it depends on the circumstances under which you paid for your ride.
Again, all those things COULD be ironic-- if we knew the rest of the story. But we don't, and that's what annoys me so much about the song (well besides its viral popularity when I was in 8th grade or so.)

Some of the stuff in that song is what I'd consider to be ironic. The "10,000 spoons when all you need is a knife" part and the guy who died in the plane crash after finally getting up the nerve after a lifetime of being afraid to fly because he was afraid he'd die. I can't remember all the specific references in the song, it's been awhile since I last heard it.

I was thinking about this some more this morning, about how often irony is a thing that appears good but which is actually bad, but there's also things which appear bad being actually good. That's what I thought was interesting about the original post, though if it were to be ironic, it would take additional information to make it so.
I guess other examples are the noble savage, thieves honor, and hookers with hearts of gold.
It's also why in Hollywood, wholesome small town life is usually depicted in order to serve up an ironic twist of some kind. Except it's done so much, wholesome small town life has become suspect all by itself, kind of like how pharisee became a synonym for disingenuous. It's troubling.

I just want to put out there that when I saw Alanis in concert, she had a strange and intoxicating way of walking around the stage like a gaged great cat. Add that to her good singing, and I'm willing to forgive a lot. That woman puts the Y in Sexy.

But since that avenue is now open, maybe it's one of those reality altering things. Like when a high schooler with low grades gives himself the screen name "geniusboy" in order to keep his mind focused on good grades.
I suppose irony in this situation could be Rabbit suddenly having octuplets or conversely every rabbit in the world suddenly unable to have more than one offspring in a lifetime.

No, I pretty much always appreciate the bitter-sweet irony of that. But some days there is definitely more bitter than sweet in it.
BTW, The name Rabbit began as something of a joke on the part of my husband quite some time before we were married and long before the issue of infertility ever reared its ugly head.
