Thank you, Hatrack, for your advice in the Refurbished PCs thread. I ended up buying a refurbished dell PC, and I'm just setting everything up now. One problem though is the wireless network I'm trying to connect to, my neighbor has a good connection set up, and is graciously allowing me to get onto his for the time being, but I was wondering if I might be able to get some advice.
I'm not the most knowledgeable about routers, so I'll take all the help I can get, and I'll try to do my best to describe the situation. We have a D-Link Wireless 108G Gaming Router, and it seems to work fairly well for the 360 and Wii, but when I try to get my PC to connect to it wirelessly, the connection seems slow and cuts off sometimes. When my father was visiting he tried to connect to it with his laptop, and was experiencing the same problems. Are there any immediate thoughts on what settings to change?
Edit to add: There is a standing PC that's connected by a hard line, and it has no problems whatsoever.

Try a different channel. Sometimes there is interference from other wireless devices. This should be one of the basic wireless settings in the administration interface.
You didn't mention whether the devices you are using to connect are also capable of 108Mbit connections. If not, you could try throttling the router down to regular Wireless G and see if that makes any difference.
It could be a problem with the position relative to the router and intervening objects, as well.

Try channel 1 or 11. (disable auto-channel selection.)
FWIW, I've had problems with wi-fi that I've never been able to resolve despite endless tinkering with settings. Some of the hardware that is out there for the mass market is just poor quality, or has substandard drivers, IMO. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't try a few things to see if you can get some improvement.
