So a month ago Sasha earned a few dollars and rushed out to get a "Web-Kins"
What is a Web-Kins?
Combine the Beanie Baby craze, a virtual pet, Yahoo Games, Hatrack, and WOW--all aimed for the grade school market.
You buy a stuffed animal, get on-line, type in a code and create its Avatar. Now you feed and walk and love and train this pet, or go off and play games to earn Web-Kins Cash, or go off the chat and play with friends and strangers.
Sasha loves it.
My wife loves it more. She has spent twice as much time exploring this world than Sasha. For her birthday today, we bought her, her own Web-kins.
She is happy trouncing some 3rd grader on a dice game.
Anyone else been drug into this addiction by their kids?

It's cute, and a fun way to play games with the kid . I have two frogs, because it turns out that you only keep your subscription for a year per plush animal.
The kid has roped me, my mom, my mother in law, and my sister in law into playing. We have little parties in the kid's enormous house.

It's very like neopets. My daughters both have Webkinz accounts. They both use it for the game parts and not the chat parts. And they love to decorate their little rooms.
It's kinda cute, and it appears to have a little educational value and some of the games are good for problems solving and the like -- and it keeps me from wasting so much time on my MMO's too, so I felt it was a good thing for them overall.
