Hello all,

I may be in Tampa for the back half of the last week of February. It's my "Spring" (really Winter) break at school and I have a friend who goes to USF that told me to come visit, so I'm seriously considering it. She told me to come early in the week and just hang out, but I think, despite the nice weather and the beaches, I'd probably just end up being bored. The novelty of reading a book on the beach by myself wears off rather quickly.

I was planning on coming in Thursday (February 26th) night and leaving Sunday afternoon (March 1st), but I figured maybe I could either come in Thursday morning or maybe Wednesday night and if anyone was free, I could meet up with some people for lunch or dinner (maybe Wednesday night?). I'll have a car, since my friend said I could borrow hers if I want to go anywhere, and a GPS so I don't get lost. If anyone is interested and has any idea ahead of time if they might be free, let me know. I feel bad that I didn't get the chance to meet up with anyone when I was in Florida two Summers ago, and this is probably the last trip I'll be making for awhile. Plus I'm a lot more fun in person than I probably sound on here, really!

I'd also be up for doing anything that isn't too expensive. Maybe if Tampa happens to have any cool museums or something, that and a meal might be a nice afternoon. I'm open to suggestions. I know it's a weekday, and my college has a weird time for a break week, but it'd be cool to do something. Maybe I can finally escape being half real and graduate to really real. [Smile]

If you can make it towards Orlando I'd be glad to meet you, providing the time frame works out. I am starting school myself, so t depends...I may have break at the same time. [Big Grin]

While it is warm compared to the north during that time, don't think you'd want to go to the beach in February. It can be pretty chilly.

I live in Ocala, about 3.5 hours north of Tampa or I'd offer to come there. If I am out of school I may be able to do that as well, at all depends. I'd definatly be interested in meeting you IRL though. I bet Joe and Lisa would as well (Icky and Cor), and the Orlando area is fairly central to all of the Hatrackers in Central FL.

Anything over 50 degrees is beach weather as far as I'm concerned right now. Didn't you used to live in Michigan? Lake Michigan is bitchin cold even in the middle of July, I'm betting the Gulf is lovely even at the end of February. At least for a northern boy.

(And if not, there's an "I told you so," in the making for you [Wink] )

I could probably drive some distance to meet people, but I'l have to check with my friend before hand to see if she's okay with me really taking her car any sizeable distance.

I'm not in the area, but on the subject of Michiganites swimming in mid-winter in the Gulf, that reminds me of something my niece said when she was about 5.

It was midwinter and she had just returned from the Gulf beach. She told me some people were swimming there, those same people who burned that house in the movie. After questioning we found out she'd recently seen "Gone with the Wind" which made a big impression on her. She couldn't remember what you call those people who burned all those houses, but she knew it was the same word as used for the people swimming in the Gulf in midwinter.

The world must be a scary place to kids.

Alright my dates are pretty much set. I'm going to be leaving Wednesday afternoon (the 25th) and coming back home on March 2nd in the morning.

If anyone is available on Thursday the 26th to do anything during the day that'd be cool, but I know people have to work, so I might be available for something on Saturday or Sunday during the day too. I might be going to Busch Gardens and/or Downtown Disney somewhere in there, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to meet up with anyone during those two things.

I'll be booking my flight soon, so anyone who is interested in meeting up can let me know when they'll be free as they figure it out, there's really no rush now that I have my dates set.

Also, I may have a 3 hour layover in Houston. I wanted to see my family that lives there, but they might not be able to get out to me, so if there are any Houston area Hatrackers that might want to meet me at the airport if my family can't, I'd be up for lunch!
