Gah! Why did this idiot maintenance guy park his van in the driveway to our parking lot, blocking all access? What's wrong with the parking lot itself? And he apparently thinks that "I'm not trying to be mean" is a defense for this idiot behaviour! Well, comrade, you may not be trying to be mean, but you sure as hell succeeded at stupid.

Cuz some idiot'd immediately call a tow truck if he parked in their space? Whereas a driver would just honk their horn trying to attract his attention sose he'd move the darn thing.

As it happens, I called a tow truck anyway. And then I parked so as to block his exit. Thus very effectively spreading the annoyance around, if his expostulations are anything to judge by.

See, it's always best just to take out their valve cores of their tires, making it impossible to re-inflate them without the cores installed. Keep the cores. He would have 4 flat tires without any damage to the tires.
If you were careful, he wouldn't even know it was you. Most tow truck drivers don't know enough about cars to even know what's missing since you would replace the caps. He would insist on towing it to a tire shop. Posts: 4229 | Registered: Dec 2002

I can't agree with that. Many problems require really substantial vandalism to bring them to a satisfactory resolution.

I have to admit, on a list of people to use vandalism or pranks on to get some satisfaction, tow truck drivers would be on the lower part of any list I'd make, a section that includes cops, lawyers, private detectives, and mercenaries.

I can't agree with that. Many problems require really substantial vandalism to bring them to a satisfactory resolution.
Sure, but unless you know precisely the severity of vandalism required it's best to start petty and then escalate in careful incriments.

Well, there really are two schools of thought on that.
I know the Austrian school pushes for judicious weighing of vandalism and I have to admit Der Schreiber's classic essay makes a lot of good points, but I've found success with the Neo-Classical approach of emphasizing exuberance and unself-conscious absorbtion in the moment.

On the contrary, KoM, just a reminder to others that what goes around all too often comes back around. If the dude's van got towed, all you can do is wait worrying about the repercussions from this particular incident.
You allowed a minor inconvenience to push you into the equivalent of road rage. Then allowed that "righteous wrath" to push you out of your way to obtain vengence. Not satisfied with the dude's attempt move his truck, you blocked his way solely to obtain that pound of flesh.
Maybe you're lucky, and the dude's attitude is similar to what would be mine, "I asked for it by putting myself into the situation. Just hafta write off what happened to experience." Then again, if he is like you... ...you'd be best off by ending the affair with "I asked for it..." if something further were to occur. Me? I'd apologise profusely for letting road rage control my actions before matters have a chance to escalate, and insist on paying half the impoundment fee. TANSTAAFL
