I do. I love where I am moving to, and am excited to get there, but I hate the actual physical move more than just about anything else in the world. I am always amazed how messy our place is, despite looking fairly neat before we start to move things. I am also amazed at how any THINGS we have accumulated since the last time we moved.

I always set aside extra time to pack, but once again here I am the day before a move finding tons and tons of stuff that I need to pack. [Frown]

I hired movers, but they have already expressed concern regarding the amount of boxes I have. [Smile] They use a trailer and a truck to pull it, and if I am right we will need to make more than one trip.

I think I am going to get rid of some books. I have over 1400 of them, and my wife has almost 700 of her own, so that right there is 15 boxes of books at least.

Well, time to get back to it.

Ugh.

That's rough. I've never had to move myself so I'm sure that's a whole different ballgame. Growing up LDS we were always moving families, and it's interesting to see how different everyone does it. From getting movers to renting Uhauls and not knowing how to pack it and whatnot

Moving is so tiring and time consuming! I usually set aside a day in the spring to 'purge' out all the items I haven't used in a year and donate whatever can be donated and try to minize the trash if I can.

I moved my family of five three times in 6 months last year, and it sucked. There are still bins and sacks full of unrelated things, from when I ran out of patience/time to actually organize & pack. I threw away mounds of stuff each time we moved, but it hardly made a dent. (And I am not quite rational enough to throw away all the perfectly useful items even when I know I will look at them ONLY when I move again. I can bring myself to discard some of them, but not all.)

I feel for you Kwea.

If you want to get rid of the books, you can mail them to me. You'd have to pay the shipping, of course.

When we moved to FL three years ago, I puled a UHaul trailer down. I had to get rind of tons of stuff...fishing rods, curnature, books...all sorts of stuff.

It amazies me how much of that we have accumulated again, in just three short years.

I used to move furniture for a living years ago, so I pack well, but I just don't have the energy to do it any more. I hired some guys to move things in last time, as I got stuck packing it all. I have a very bad back, and all of my friends bailed on me, so I had one guy to help me, all 85 lbs of him. Don't get me wrong, he helped a lot, but still....after all the times I helped other people move, a little more help would have been nice.

It took me two days to load the truck myself, and less than 2 hours for the people I hired (on the cheap) to move it all in. At that point I decided I will never move myself again. It is worth the $250 to be able to move without pain tomorrow, even though we are not wealth at the moment.

Last time I moved I couldn't walk for two days after. [Frown]
