Red Alert to me is one of those cheesy RTS genre's of games where they will have inaccurate scale, units, implausible historical and tactical context. In general don't appeal to me. I like RTS's like Close Combat that have realistic gameplay, basically "Real Time Tactics" kind of games, where you have to think, strategize, prepare to win constantly reevaluating the tactical situation as you play. My prefered Cold War gone Hot kind of game would be something of a mix of Hearts of Iron and NORAD for the strategic view of the situation (when you have a higher rank) with the ability to "zoom in" and take command of individual brigade sized engagements over a large field of battle that moves and scrolls as you "push" through the enemy lines, this could cover all kinds of missions and is the type of game I intend to one day make.

With this in mind I have an inbuilt aversion to Cheesy RTS's like Warcraft 3 or Starcraft that while in the end i tend to like certain of these games in a Cult Like fanatical fanboyism it doesn't stop me from being inversely hesitant to try out other games in the genre, take Company of Heroes for example.

Panther do NOT 1 shot Shermans from a km away. In Close Combat they do, so trying to cleverly set up an ambush doesnt work as the enemy will brush off the opening salvo get past you and micromanage their units and wipe out my forces when historically it would have taken them 3 to 5 times the numbers of vehicals to push past a similarily fortified position, example historically whenever the germans had a fortified 88 position the entire allied advance was HALTED by this single position until the 88 itself was disabled, always. In COH this isn't the case, an 88 is amere inconvenience of no real consequence.

Basically I like "realism" I don't like arcade games claiming to be strategy games.

But here comes Red Alert 3 from EA and i will say that while I am and always will still be hesitant with cheesy RTS's RA3 has earned my favor, it is FUN and undeniably so. The story is compelling, the voice actors top notch. The games hypes up the silliness factor at every opportunity so at least it doesn't pretend to be a serious RTT game. The camera is further out compared to C&C Generals which I am thankful for.

The soundtrack is amazing, and once more the game is FUN. And I cannot wait to try out the single player campaign in co-op mode, I wonder if it gets harder?

Definitely consider getting it. Oh and I <3 Tim Currie & George Takei.

Blayne....*shakes head*

I am really interested in reading your reviews,
but I can't get past your grammar. I am not one to talk. My grammar is horrible. However your grammar is beyond a parody of itself.

Please take a basic English class or put more thought in what you write. Some of us would be interested in reading it.

Strange I reread it, and while I "mentally" accidently misread a sentence or two in a grammarically incorrect way, rereading it showed my grammer to be at least to me not immediately incorrect.

So did someone release a C&C knock of called Command and Conqor? Isn't Conqor Conan's third cousin?

Hence my suggestion to take a basic English grammar class.

I'm not trying to be snide. My grammar is still worthy of scorn on Hatrack, but it used to be a LOT worse. I had a very smart ex who proofread every one of my papers when I went to college. She was brutal on me. She must of went through several boxes of red pens, but I got much better.

My casual forum posting still needs a lot of work, but I can write a mean paper.

I wrote a lot like you. I think the structure of our thinking must be very similar--not the content but how we form sentences in our head.

(IE: I know the above sentence needs reworked.)

Your posts would be a lot easier to invest in if you used more periods and a few well placed commas. I wish I could lend you Angel.

Not to mention a spell checker and a review of capitalization. Your "i"s could use some work.
