Hey, look! Gambit!

You know, I never understood why Gambit ended up being so popular. Was it the insanely over the top accent? The pink costume? The ill-defined powers? [Razz]

A superhero, wearing a pink outfit, with ill-defined powers and a over the top accent. That is a formula for greatness!

Saw this trailer before The Day the Earth Stood Still. I can't decide if it looks cool or bogus.

It doesn't look bad. But, then again, most trailers are like that.

Case in point: The Day the Earth Stood Still's trailer looked good, but we all knew it was going to suck.

It wasn't that bad. I mean, it wasn't ground-breaking or anything. But it was a good piece of special-effects filler. That was, if nothing else, mildly enjoyable. And despite the fact that the theme it presents isn't a new one and the movie got a little preachy, I thought the message was fairly relevant.

It certainly can't stand up to the original. But it's a different sort of movie. And I enjoyed watching it.

*shrugs* To each his/her own, I guess.

I will love the Wolverine movie forever if there's a scene where Logan tells Remy the following: "Your sister wants her shirt back!" [Big Grin]

I think that it looks good just because it seems to follow a storyline that has once been written. And everyone knows that there are three reasons Gambit are awesome.
1. He a good natured thief, everyone loves them.
2. He has a staff, which makes him awesome.
3. He makes explosions, if you want an action movie all you need is for him to touch things! everythin is an action movie when he is around!

A thief...who wears a bright pink shirt so he can blend in with the shadows. And the biggest, bulkiest trench coat in comicdom for freedom of movement. And last (but not least) enormous metal boots, for silence and stealth. [Big Grin]

Xann: explosions do not an awesome character make. Just ask Jubilee, who was about as intimidating as a three-year-old with a box of sparklers, and Dazzler, who had the power of the mirror ball or something.

ETA: I'm just... yeah. Maybe Gambit and Dazzler can hook up and make some flashy, unhelpful babies.

I always liked that his primary weapons of choice were playing cards. I mean how often is a guy in a pink shirt with a deck of playing cards a real threat?
