I'm writing this before my morning person powers completely wear off. Only got 4-5 hours of sleep last night and am one of those people who need their 7 1/2 to function normally.

Anyway, the reason I was up so late was because I was here!

His email newsletter went out yesterday late afternoon, so I didn't realize until this morning that they were going to stream the entire live show. Now I can relive it and anyone who couldn't make it can enjoy the awesomeness. I'd elaborate, but the NPR write-up does more justice than I ever could, and the performance speaks for itself.

One of the things I like to do at shows is take notes on the set list and any witty stage talk the artists share. Here are a couple highlights from this Andrew Bird with Loney Dear show (Feb. 3rd @ the 9:30 Club in DC):

Loney Dear singer, Emil Svanagen:
quote:
I always try to do the demographics in the audience to try to see if we have to seal the walls, see if we can build a society. In that case, I would like to be, say, the king of Monaco I would like to be.
Emil Svanagen:
quote:
Thanks for the plasterwrap!
(translation: bandaid)

I'd add some from Andrew Bird himself, but I'd probably butcher his spiel on the song "Effigy." Just go listen to it through that NPR link. [Wink]

If you listen to the Andrew Bird performance, keep in mind that the first two songs of the performance and also the first of the encore ("Why?"), is solely him. In other words, no band.
