Monday night, Chuck, Big Bang Theory and House were all on at the same time. Tonight, it's Lost, Life and Lie to Me.

They hate me.

Oh yes. My life got much better when I was able to record Chuck and Big Bang Theory/How I Met Your Mother. Now I don't have to choose.

And since there's garbage on other nights, I can rearrange the TV schedule to suit myself.

Monday nights are terrible. We record two shows on our tivo, watch one in the living room and record another on a vcr in the living room.

*pat pat* That's okay. I'm sure there are many other threads that have things that you would like to discuss. Run along now.

My point was that theresa's post is somewhat ridiculous. If you look at it and you replace it with any other word aside from TV, then she sounds like an addict.

Edit: I don't mean to pick on her in particular. I think that it's a general problem.

She'd only sound like an addict if she was talking about losing her job to watch TV, or freaking out on a plane ride because her show's going to be on in like 2 hours and can't they make the plane go any faster dammit?

I'd say she sounds like an enthusiast.

BTW, Jon, what do you spend your spare time doing that might be something we could disparage? [Wink]

You could start with posting in a certain forum with a yellow/gray scheme. [Big Grin]

Lately? All I do is this, attend class, study, research, and hang out with friends... when I have the time. Occasionally I sleep.

Hmm. I suppose you win this round. But when you have some spare time, I'll be watching. [Grumble]

I think we need to do a more strict replace operation on the word "TV". Here's how that works out:

You people are all so terrible for enjoying your leisure activities. Your life should be nothing but WORK! Grim, joyless work. All for your fellow man. You have no right to be happy.

Agreed.

Perhaps it can be "Monday nights are terrible. We take two shots on our tivo, take on in the living room and take another on a vcr in the living room."

I miss tv. Monster is up until 9pm and I don't want her watching most shows. We don't have a tivo or vcr. I do watch tv online at work though, but it is just not the same.

Typical really: hundreds of channels and nothing worth watching.

I echo Lisa's sentiments. It is annoying when they put two programs that appeal to me on at the same time on different networks. It seems like poor marketing to make shows in the same genre, or with similar appeal, in competition with each other. But if one is on regular broadcast TV, I can watch that while simultaneously recording the other show from Cable, which is what my VCR is hooked up to.

I got a converter box early. All I have to do is switch to TV with my TV/VCR switch. The VCR can still record from cable.

And it looks to me like the broadcast TV with converter boxes is going to be better, because at least the stations here in Detroit are broadcasting widescreen, when you use the converter box. The digital processing also cleans up the signal so it is as clear as cable--it used to be I had trouble getting some local stations clearly using a rabbit ear antenna.

I enjoyed a recent line in Psych where the lead character mentioned someone watching episodes of The Mentalist. That is a show with essentially the same modus operandi as Psych. Interesting that the writers of Psych got away with it, since Mentalist is on a different network.

It's no different than the episode of Scrubs where Perry Cox mimicked Greg House.

Did I mention it usually takes me to the weekend to actually watch the shows I record? I doubt I average more than an hour of tv a day during the week and maybe about 2-3 hours on the weekend if we don't have plans. I might also note I have a 10 month old so going out in the evenings is simply not an option for us. I'm not a movie person and after watching Ellie all day sometimes reading is more effort than I am interested in. But, if I'm a tv addict, so be it. There are worse things in life.

Actually, it reminds me more of the episode of Scrubs where JD talks about Grey's Anatomy: "It's like someone made a TV show of our lives!"

In both this case and the case of Psych and The Mentalist, someone made a successful drama by taking almost the exact premise of a comedy and removing the word "Comedy".

As a side note, Scrubs is currently preventing me from watching The Mentalist [Smile] Damn you, CBS, for removing full Mentalist episodes from your website!

I just think that JonHecht is trying to say is that when people talk about say, trying to fit in smoking breaks, or WoW raids into thier schedule they sound rediculous, but with Tv it is normal.

P.s. Jonhecht plays with knives with his off time, i've seen pictures to prove it.

The Mentalist is actually going to be making a break from its standards, and is going to have two upcoming episodes with titles that do not include the word "Red". However, they do include "Scarlett" and "Crimson", so I'll give them a pass.

I love this show so much. Psych is cute, but Mentalist totally rocks. And now that Lie to Me is out, it's sort of a cross between Mentalist and House. All hail Tim Roth.

Um... anything stopping you from playing WoW *while* watching TV?

If he raids and is required to use vent or teamspeak watching TV at the same time really isn't feasible. I mean you can certainly watch while you're clearing most trash, but during boss fights that's 5-10 minutes you just ignore the TV.

Unless it's a show I don't care about that much, I couldn't stand just letting 10 minutes slide by.

edited for grammar.
