I made an apple pie from the Heinz site once. It was good!

I'd be willing to try it if it wasn't too hot to bake. (Well, that and my oven having melted plastic in it from the other day when the kids left a cup in there, I forgot to check, and the house quickly filled with smoke...)

Undiluted canned tomato soup is one of the main ingredients of an extremely tasty raisin spice cake I sometimes make. [Smile]

Puffy Treat, I want that recipe! My mom used to make tomato jam. I loved that stuff.

I want it too! I have a great spice cake recipe that uses apricot baby food. Plum or banana works just as well. The cake is scrumptious.

Here you go:

1 Box Spice Cake Mix (Okay, so I cheat!)

1 Can Condensed Tomato Soup (Undiluted)

3 Large Eggs

1 Cup Vegetable Oil

1/2 Cup Raisins

1/2 Cup Chopped Pecans

1/4 Cup Water

Pre-heat oven to 350. Put the cake mix, tomato soup, eggs, vegetable oil, and water in a large bowl. Mix until well blended. Stir in the raisins and pecans. Pour the batter into a 13x9 inch pan, bake for about 30 minutes.

Frost as desired. Personally, I like to make a hot buttermilk glaze to pour over it.

Thanks! I happen to have a box of spice cake mix sitting around. I'm not usually a big cake fan but somehow lately it sounds good. I think I'm gonna try that ketchup one as well.

I made the ketchup cake tonight. Bob thought it was carrot cake, I thought it tasted like a rather generic spice cake. Honestly, the flavor of the spices was strong enough I'm not sure it would have tasted any different if I'd left the ketchup out.

I did leave the red food color out.

Haha, awesome, dkw! Thanks for the review. Maybe I'll give it a go sometime.
