It's being reported on Reuters: http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE54D1GR20090517

I wonder if another group will rush into the power vaccuum and continue the violence, though. I hope that is not the case.

Velupillai Prabhakaran was killed. It's so hard for me to come to terms with the fact that this war might actually end. I sincerely hope no groups fills the vacuum, but at the same time I can see how the Tamils feel they are different enough from the Sinhalese to deserve their own country. I hope they can find a way to coexist and stop killing each other.

People buy arms from Canada? Suddenly the Tamil Tigers losing all makes sense now. [Wink]

"But who will we sell weapons to now!"

Well the US has an extreme shortage of guns&ammo now, what with ever-growing (and highly profitable) sales to Mexican drug cartels and the lifting of the ban on assault rifles and automatic pistols.

And the self-proclaimed "sovereign states" of Texas and Oklahoma in particular are up in arms about the election of Obama to the Presidency. "The Confederacy shall rise again."

According to the news reports, not only is the leader dead, but apparently, his 'heir apparent' is dead, too. I think that was his son.
