So, I'm getting ready to move at the end of the month, and since I'm moving to a different island and moving in with my husband who has more and nicer furniture than I do, I'm selling most of my stuff before I go.
I've been selling a few things at a time for a while, usually cleaning up the item and posting a few digital pictures. I got a little stressed out this morning at work, thinking about how little time I have left, so I just posted an ad with no pictures, listing what I want to sell.
I can't believe how many emails I've gotten already! I've sold my washer, my baker's rack, two beds and a pet taxi in the last hour. Fortunately tomorrow is a state holiday, so I can stay home and get the cr*p ready and make the transactions.
Of course, now, I'll be going to the laundromat and sleeping on the couch for 3 weeks, but I'm relieved to get rid of this stuff.
I love love LOVE dejunking my life. I had considered bringing over a bunch of this stuff, but when I've been in my Oahu home the last month or so, I like how it is so uncluttered and I *really* don't want to fill it up with STUFF. So I'm divesting. It's great!

I've had a lot of luck on craigslist as well. I don't think I'll do another garage sale. We unloaded a bunch of baby stuff, a robotic litter box, an entertainment center, and a few other things there this year.

I hate having garage sales, but my daughter wants to hold one this weekend. I told her I'd help her set it up and will offer support, but she's doing the bulk of the work.
At this rate, I won't have much left to sell but small stuff.

Be careful selling on craigslist. I have a friend in LA who was selling his laptop, and when the guy came to pick it up, he pepper-sprayed my friend and he and two buddies ran off with the laptop and whatever else was close by.

If at all practical, I meet people at a nearby public place in daylight (like the parking lot at Walmart or Lowes). For a laptop, I'd try to meet someone in a library in case they wanted to plug it in or try the wireless. You just never know....
