Disclaimer: dreams kind of blur together. normally i can't remember my dreams, but every once in a while they stick out

i dreamed i was in my old house from circa 2000 with my dog who is deceased circa 2003

scene 1: it was the night my dog died and he was lying on my bed. his flesh was rotting away and their was nothing i could do except for be sad and cry. i knew it was the end for my dog

scene 2: i was racing my truck against my dad. he was encouraging me to cheat on my wife. this disgusted me. we had trailers on the back of our truck. i crashed.

any help? (my dad would never actually convince me to do that, and i would never even consider it)

i am far more emotionally disturbed by the first one... normally i don't even think about posting them

thanks!

Both are concerned with the end of a relationship- the death of the dog, the voice in your head, embodied by fatherly advice, to cheat on your wife. At the same time, while you're racing to keep up with your dad (no mystery as to what that means) you crash, so maybe that's also a sign that you shouldn't follow your dad's advice.

But whatever, when it comes to dream interpretations we all just hear what we want to hear anyway.

Someone told me that your dreams are about what you fear most...
Bad enough your dog is dying but made worse by the rotting flesh.
You racing your father (causing injury to yourself or to him... him hurting you or himself)
A man, I assume, you trust telling you to commit one of the biggest sins. If he tells you to do it, what has he been doing?
Obviously, the truck crash.

I always prescribe to the Jungian idea that every element in a dream is representation of an aspect of yourself. You ARE your dog and you ARE your father. Focus on how you felt in the dreams because that will help you understand the struggle going on in your head.

Example: how did you feel about the death of your dog? Helpless? Angry? Did you miss it? Did you just accept what was happening? Likely you've undergone a personal change lately but only you know if it was a natural part of growing as a person or something you need to fight to regain.

I must really fear alien/zombie invasions and anything that could fall under the umbrella of insurrection.

Anyway...

I would agree that the tone and feelings associated with your dreams (those you recall upon waking in particular) are often an indicator of where you are mentally and emotionally while awake. The causes for those emotions in the dream might not match up to the actual causes, but perhaps you should consider what might be making you feel overwhelmed, sad, confused and defensive in your life at the moment.

(edit: to fix coding)
