My grandmother's name is Rita. She's always been a hoarder and a complete mess. I definitely had some internal giggling going on in 2005.

The two are not mutually exclusive. You can be obligated to try and minimize or eliminate the feelings yet still not be wrong for feeling them in the first place. Temptation itself isn't morally wrong - only dwelling on it or acting on it.

So a small smile if Danny grows is ok. A "Go Danny Go!" party over the weekend, not so much.
Setting up my own personal weather machine to feed energy into this perfectly named storm--right out.

I once read an article about the fact that the 21st century didn't actually start until 2001, and all the people celebrating it in 2000 were in fact wrong. The article's conclusion was that you should party in 2000, and then party again in 2001. Party hard. Party often. So given that your "Go Danny Go!" party is unlikely to have an actual impact on the world, I would not begrudge you to opportunity to celebrate.
Granted, you're going to feel terrible afterwards if it turns out to be the next Katrina.

I wouldn't say temptation is the issue. There's nothing he can do to make TS Dan strong enough to kill people or destroy their homes and property. (The pictures their children drew in preschool. The gardens they worked so hard to cultivate. Etc.) I would say the issue is lack of empathy. Not that I'm judging Dan; we're all guilty for putting our wants over the needs of other people occasionally. But my answer is, yes, it's wrong. It's also very natural.

Please no big hurricanes! I'm too broke to evacuate and living for two weeks without electricity is not high on my to-do list.
Honestly, my name is so uncommon that I was never able to even imagine the possibilty. I can't even find my name on novelty key chains much less major storm systems.

Wishing specifically for death and destruction on people would be pretty evil. Wishing that a storm with your name gets bigger is just a bit of navel gazing.

Oh, that's funny. It would be even better if you wrote it on a scrap of paper and throw darts on it. Please, please tell me you do that. That's hilarious.

I'm happy in a way about global warming, because I want it to be warmer. It's always too cold. I would move to south Florida or something but that would take a lot of effort. If I wait, though, I'll probably have beachfront property someday. This makes me happy.
I mean, I don't specifically want other people to suffer or animals to go extinct or anything like that. I'll just be glad for the warmth. Is that so evil?

Sorry, Dan, you're now only a tropical depression. I know how you must feel about this. My condolences.
