Happy Thanksgiving! I love being directly descended from a guy who started a national holiday. Mrs. BB and myself are cooking breakfast for my brothers, and then going to her family's to help prep the feast.

Tip for anyone in the world, if any of your extended family marry a Hawaiian, all food related holidays need to be at thier house. You will thank me.

There were several turkeys, and a ham - and NO I didn't have to cook ALL of it. People brought stuff, and most of those were kids.
It really wasn't so bad.
Oh, and we had some travel conflicts and one case of the flu - so some folks didn't make it. And a fellow teacher who wasn't going to be able to go home this weekend who I invited wound up going to someone else's house. So it wound up being (counts out loud) 17? I think? Maybe 18?

It wasn't a holiday here, but we are all in various stages of unemployment at my flat, so we bought a chicken, made two pies, bought 3 bottles of wine and a bunch of beer, jack daniels, and fixins for milkshakes. The real hit was my Scottish flatmate Neil's sausages wrapped in bacon- an invention that, shockingly, had never occurred to me before. Sadly 3 of the 5 of us are moving out at the end of the year (not me!) so we will be recruiting a bunch of random new people, and that is sad.
Can you believe that a proper turkey was not available in any of the grocery stores, including Tesco, the leading foreign grocery store? Rumor was they were for sale at one of the expat shops, for what I'm sure was a scandalous price. BAH HUMBUG!

Lots of fun was had. I couldn't believe that my father in law and I had to clean the whole thing up, and it was his birthday no less.
I wonder if the dog, cat, and pig helped the little red hen clean up the crumbs, wash the dishes, and pack the Tupperware after they finished eating the bread.
