Short of walking over to some random coworker and freaking them out by asking for a massage, I'm not sure what to do. I reached into my work bag this morning, and suddenly some muscle in my left shoulder blade crunched all up and just won't loosen up. I've tried stretching some, and that has helped it a little. I checked in the medicine kit on this floor, but no heat packs - just cold.

I haven't taken anything painkiller-wise and keep stretching it occasionally. Is there anything I can do besides stretch it out until I can get home after work to put heat on it or have my mom give it a rub?

Any suggestions for what I can do in the meantime are more than welcome! Thank you!

Not really. Just keep stretching it out, and take an OTC pain med like Tylenol or Advil for the pain.

Definitely going to do the painkiller now and keep stretching. (Was in a meeting and lunch for awhile there.) And hopefully this evening some heat will help it loosen up more.

RivalOfTheRose, you've got more nerve than I. [Wink]

If you can find the knot then you could ask the coworker to help get the knot out....asking for a massage at work could be frowned upon.

I'd suggest taking ibuprofen (Advil) - it is an anti-inflammatant (acetaminophen, Tylenol, isn't).

That helped, and the heating pad last night was key. Thanks all!
