I dont think many Hatrackers have kept watching Heroes, but I dont have cable and NBC is willy nilly with thier online content. Now I do agree that season five dragged its feet around four maybe five issues, simply rehashing the same problems over and over (Claire not trusting her dad, Nathan is dead, Hiro is sick) without doing much of anything about it. But it was the last two episodes that caught my eye, the entire Peter/Sylar/dead Nathan thing finnally got solved Hiro seems to have real grasp on his powers and Clair has actually made a decision for herself. About damn time.

Without giving everything away in case you abandoned ship and might want to watch the last two episodes (seriously, you can skip the rest and it wont matter to the storyline) the confrontations in season six wont be shady govt groups and dangerous specials, it will be the world and Im kinda hoping to see some abnormal-witch hunting happen. The Carnival has to figure out its future, Tracy Strauss has this whole Prof. X thing going on (cept the comic only shows boys at her farm house for specials.....) and we have a very new and unexpected Sylar to watch. Kind of a shame though, Zachary Quinto plays evil so well.

Who knows, it may even be confirmed that HRG has the power to produce red rubber balls, is it just me or was it every time he was imprisoned by PrimaTech he just sat around bouncing a rubber ball. Do they hand out rubber balls to inmates or something?

Huh.
This makes me realize that I've downloaded three episodes of Heroes with almost no motivation to actually watch them.

I like the fact that Gabriel has gone over to the light side. They found an interesting way to make that happen, and I found it convincing. I also like the fact that he and Peter are, if not friends, at least allies. Even Matt had to suck it up and concede that he's changed.

I think now that the core characters with the most potential have the clarity to actually make themselves useful the only logical step was to make the world, the antagonist. Hiro is not dying and is truely a master of space and time, but how does he keep his secret? should he even keep himself hidden? what will happen to Yamagato Industries if the head of the company has the ability to do whatever he wants to his competition? How long can Claire handle being the spokesperson for the world, and how long before she is strapped to a chair and bled dry so all disease and death can be cured? And Im pretty confident that Peter will be looking for that invisible girl at some point, once panic hits not being seen will be nice.

I love the way Claire came out. It was a great nod to the first episode.

HRG was not a good man -
He had his little ways.
And sometimes no-one spoke to him
For days and days and days...

(Someone tell me they know that poem.)

Anyway, clearly HRG's deepest, darkest secret is that, when he asks nicely, Father Christmas brings him a red, india-rubber ball.

Like they haven't done it before. By my count Sylar's been bad, good, bad, good. He'll be bad again before you know it.

I almost watched the last episode because Charlie was in the commercials, but I just couldn't take the utter stupidity of the Carnival leader's plan. (We'll reveal our powers to the world at the carnival and everyone will take us seriously?)

What was going on with Charlie, if you don't mind sharing?

I'm actually more okay with Samuel in this season than I thought I'd be. He wasn't a diabolical mastermind, he was just a sad, crazy dude. I liked that his first master plan turned out to be "make a nice house," and then his second plan wasn't well thought out at all, but it made sense because it was woven in a fit of rage.

It wasn't the best (I definitely would have PREFERRED a smarter Samuel, in particular one who realized that an amnesiac Sylar you could shape into whoever you wanted was infinitely preferable to an EVIL SYLAR WHO WANTED TO EAT YOUR BRAIN!!!!!) but I think it actually made sense in context.

SPOILER

Charlie was taken back to 1944, and lived all those years after until her entire body was too frail to go on. While at the hospital she saw Hiro's name on a chart and sent him a nurse with an origami swan, shes had loads of kids and grand-kids and refused Hiro's offer to travel back to 1944 and bring her back to the present. It was a really touching exchange between them, and the elderly Charlie had the same bright big eyes so the actress switcharoo felt right.

As for Sylar, I'll try to list all the differant shades of Grey (had to do it) weve seen him as.

Anonymous Killer: just a guy in hat, killing people.

Sylar: the one we know the best. Smart, evil and keeps getting ahead of the good guys and pissing off Suresh.

Syler Petrelli: mommy issues allowed him to be a puppet, while not out killing on his own he was still seriously messed up and was being fed unwitting specials.

Who am I? Sylar: his flashback arc with electra-girl, almost became a good person but actually decided that killing is fun.

Gabriel (from the future that is no more): by repressing his power he kept the psycho trait in check, had a kid and quietly moved into Claires old house. The guy even had her dog and named his son Noah. Tottally good, but useless while he couldnt use his abilities.

Uber Sylar: even though he was unrestrainedly evil and could have done alot of devastating things to the world he chose to just piss off certain people again because it was more entertaing.

Please love me: the version that we have seen ever since Hiro told him that he would die alone with no one to miss him. Unable to kill, willing to sit down and ask his enemies to help him and generally the oddest he had ever been.

Good Sylar: it seems that Peter could only start chipping away at the brick wall once he forgave Sylar for killing Nathan, and then Sylar had to forgive himself in turn for them to break down the wall. The question is wether he has actually fixed the problem with his innate ability that makes him want to kill people (why Gabriel stopped using his powers, nearly made Peter kill his mother) or if he has merely deformed it into some overpowering urge to "help" people, traded the rush of murder and power for whatever made him so happy when he saved Emma.

Ok, you dragged me back via my curiosity [Wink]

I sure hope this is the last of Samuel I see. I get that he's just a sad, crazy dude ... but man his rambling makes for a really boring plot. But hey, new chapter!

Well, it's currently unclear if there will be a season 5, but the ends it such a way that it isn't strictly necessary.

They shot the ending that way even though they didn't know for sure they were getting renewed.

I felt like this past season was the closest to the comic book feel I imagine they were going for on some level all along. I loved the ending. It was ridiculously climactic, but it wasn't disappointing either. "I never did like carnivals" or whatever Noah said was the perfect line there, IMO. I thought the end of Charlie's story was well done, as was the Emma-Peter dynamic.
Personally, I was happier with them rehashing the same plot lines as opposed to throwing something new and idiotic in every two episodes ("Lets give Peter Sylar's ability... Oops, that doesn't work. Lets take all of Peters abilities away... Catalyst!").

My prediction is that Sylar will no longer be evil, but he won't necessarily be good either. Or rather, his idea of what a hero is will differ from, say, Peter's. I like the look on his face when he saw Claire exposing them. He was the only one who looked happy.

Overall, if you can't tell, I really liked this past season. Infinitely better than the one before anyways.

(A series finale is good too. I have enough shows to watch although some like Fastforward or V seem kinda MIA?)
