Apparently the software for using a type of Energizer USB NiMH battery charger comes with a trojan horse.

My Avast only just discovered arucer.dll yesterday during a routine virus scan.

Just thought I'd make a little PSA. I think I got my charger at Home Depot, so there are certainly a few out there.

Somehow I had a vision of something slightly different in my head, which now refuses to leave me alone. What's funny is I think it might even work.

Sterling, you might want to consider adding the word "horse" to the subject line. At the end, you know?

Is the vision that I assume we're all sharing practical? I mean, that's a lot of kinetic energy going on there. Is there any way to safely accumulate it without... um, electrocuting anyone?

So... anyway... um, so Sterling yeah too bad about your computer. What a sad story that is far more fascinating than whatever else this thread might hypothetically turn into a discussion of.

I think you have the wrong size connector. Try a Minipin.

[Roll Eyes]

I suppose I was asking for this. Post in haste, etc.

But, really, people. This is the first thing that comes to mind? Should I be concerned that the addition of "horse" is just going to extend musings into bestiality?

Well, NOW it implies that, but no, if it had been the first thing you posted it wouldn't have been so obvious. Part of the problem is that I never even knew energy recharges came with software (I'm still a little confused as to why that is the case), so however likely it is to misinterpret it in the particular way that I did, there was zero chance of me understanding what you meant from the thread title.

You've been here for going on five years and haven't realized that by now? [Razz]

Ray, this recharger charges batteries via your computer and a USB connection. The software is in the hardware.

Yep,

Like the Saturday Night Live drawings that start off being breasts or butts and end up being a house.
