Red vs Blue: Revelation

Thanks to Monty Oum (of Haloid and Dead Fantasy) the action scenes have taken a noticeable upswing in awesomeness.

This one I actually agree with you on, although I will still note that flooding the forum with things that are awesome tends to dilute the awesomeness.

Impossible, what you want me to substitute 'awesome' for 'cool' every now and then? What would that actually change?

Doesn't seem as funny as it used to be.

Thats called Cerebrus Syndrome, regardless now we have a serious action story with some good amounts of humor on the side, imho we didn't lose anything.

Lyrhawn, did you watch Reconstruction? Starting from there it translated into an actual serious story that got pretty genuinely cool (and made a bunch of stuff from Season 1-5 that seemed like random jokes turn out to actually make sense). Since then it's maintained a fairly constant level of humor, (about what you presumably just saw) but you need to watch Reconstruction from the beginning.

I'm wondering what the next season of the "re" series will be called, or if this is the last one. There's only so many good "re" words you can use.

So far we have:

Reconstruction
Recreation
Revelation

I'm not sure whether their motif also requires the word to tend in "tion"

No, I think you should just focus on a few things that hatrackers are more likely to appreciate, and rather than make the threads consist of "SQUEEEEE AWESOMEE!!!!!" include some actual discussion as to why it is awesome. Preferably that doesn't consist of simply labeling everything by their tvtropes name.

A little, though if you don't know what Haloid and Dead Fantasy are it's not going to help much. I did notice the animation has gotten very customized-looking, I assume they're actually, you know, animating now, instead of just using Halo footage. Assuming that was what you're referring to it'd help if you have clarified that. A properly worded introduction could make people who didn't actually know what Red vs Blue was get interested, whereas the introduction you have pretty much looks like a typical Blayne introduction and will probably make most people who don't know what you're talking go "oh, another Blayne thread about some random obscure thing I don't know or care about."

For instance, that was my reaction to your Battleship Yamoto thread. Until my dad went and explained the cultural and historical significance of the show. Now I'm actually interested, but my dad had to work against the negative reaction your initial thread produced, whereas if you have delved into that kind of detail to start with I would have been interested from the beginning.

Or whenever I say something is good you should double check with your dad as I've loooooong since accepted I am actually terrible at explaining things.

Of course I am highly skeptical of how me saying "this is awesome" could generate a negative opinion of something without you actually watching it yourself, then its kinda fishy.

Especially since my post was regarding the trailer for the live action film that got me interested in the old anime and the new anime movie coming out, I posted the trailer and said "this looks awesome" how this could generate a negative opinion to such a degree that your father had to significant lengths to convince you otherwise makes me skeptical of this being a problem on my end and far more convinced that your impression of me is in fact undeserved and incorrect.

Yes I am overly enthusiastic about things and maybe find them far more entertaining then other people HOWEVER this doesn't at all translate to me finding something clearly entertaining entertaining but simply you and others finding my enthusiasm so off putting that you are scared to look at what I find interesting for fear that you may become like me.

Logically it just doesn't add up, if you would have missed a chance to see a good show purely because of me squeeing over it then its your fault.

Sorry, but it actually does. Logic has nothing to do with it. Your posting style is annoying, and it turns people off. Period. (And actually, it really does make logical sense too, since the more things I see you post that I actually try to watch, the more I continuously find that they are not remotely as amazing as you said, and I am actively disappointed by them rather than neutral or mildly positive. So the more I instinctively assume that things you post "Dudes this is so AWESOME!" about are things I will have no interest in.

It's not that I'd never ever watch them ever and my dad had to spend hours explaining how interesting it was. But I became interested only because my dad had an interesting historical context with World War II. If my dad had simply said "Oh, that was a show I used to watch which was pretty good" it probably would have evened out with my gut reaction to your post to about neutral.

Whereas if you had started with something like "Hey guys, there's an old show you may or may not have heard of called
Space Battleship Yamato. It's somewhat similar to (and actually predates) Battlestar Galactica. It looks like they're doing a [[new series? movie? I can't actually tell from your post, because your post is so uninformative]]. Looks pretty cool! Check it out here:"

I would have A) had the slightest idea what the trailer was about, since the thing had no subtitles and I had no clue what was going on, B) because you didn't overhype it ridiculously, I would have gone into it with more realistic expectations, would have been (somewhat) intrigued, and then all it would have taken was for my dad to say "Oh yeah I saw that too, it was pretty cool" to be genuinely interested.

When you declare everything AWESOME, we lose all context for what is ACTUALLY awesome and what you're just overhyping because overhyping is fun. I know the feeling. I like to squee with delight at things I am excited for. And again, for the billionth time, if these were facebook status updates they'd be perfectly fine. But forums are not facebook, and so long as you treat them that way you will have people telling you that you are annoying.

Except you could have asked for that context and I would have explained it as I sort have did with Blackblade who apprantly liked Battlestar Galactic but didn't like the original SBY? That is just odd.

Also I wasn't talking about the old show I was only referring to the trailer which was of a WWII Battleship in space with alot of Reimaged BSG-esque special effects. If I hadn't given any context if I was talking about the old show you may have a point.

I feel that your specific criticisms don't actually apply for that thread though may apply in general and don't really apply here.

As for one thing Monty Oum isn't obscure and is fairly popular internet fame and secondly Red vs Blue is even moreso famous and well known to the point that I don't think I could even find a random person on the street who wouldn't chuckle "chupathingy" when I mention it.

People in general know what Red vs Blue is and announcement of the new series/season of it is sufficient context enough, and I felt that needing to explain Monty Oum unnecessary, you can suppose from my post that he has something to do with the action scenes the goal is to go get you to google him if the name draws a blank for you,

Worst case ask and I would explain, I provided the good minimum here, red vs blue new season and that it has a new staff member who has apparently two things to his name that you could hypothetically google up to know what I'm talking about.

In short I assume you aren't lazy and that you would if interested actually go and google it or at least ask and thus give me a chance to show off.

Blayne, this isn't about what other people COULD do. It's what YOU do. You post annoying threads. Over and over. About things that lots of people don't know about, and don't care about without context. And every bloody time people tell you how much it annoys them. It is not their responsibility to ask you to clarify what the hell you are talking about so that the post subsequently somehow becomes less annoying. Having to do that is what MAKES the post annoying. Having to read through your fanboy-spasm regardless of whether you subsequently clarify things makes it doubly annoying. Having already told you it's annoying, by multiple people, multiple times, and you still doing it is TRIPLY annoying. And still being told that if we simply used "logic" we wouldn't be annoyed is head-banging-into-a-spiked-wall annoying.

You will get people yelling at you for being annoying and immature in every single thread you make until you own up for the fact that being polite and using post styles appropriate for the forum you are in is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, not anyone else's. You cannot get people to stop being annoyed at you by out-logicing them, no matter how great you think your logic is (and it still isn't, btw). Doesn't work in relationships. Doesn't work on internet forums.

And in the meantime, yes, every awesome thing you have tried to bring to the world of hatrack will bring about instinctual feelings of disdain and annoyance, no matter how great it is, until you grow up enough to realize this.

He's an amateur animator who specializes in anime-influenced machinima.

I actually do remember Haloid now that I think about it (it's a fight between Master Chief and Samus). I do think he's pretty good. Probably something else that people here would appreciate if introduced in proper context. I didn't know Monty Oum's name though.

Its actually Nicole-468(?) the Japanese Spartan whose only canonical appearance is the Dead or Alive 4(?) but is plausible in the Halo continuality as there was 60 something odd Spartans in the Spartan-II program with about a dozen being female.

While it is an open question whether female Spartans are actually hawt or not is up for debate I think I am willing to side with Halo Legends on this one and prefer the "female Spartans are hot and have curves while Male Spartans are Bishonen" line thus far declared canon.

He's saying that the person in green armor wasn't actually meant to be the Master Chief of Halo fame, but rather a girl wearing similar armor.

Blayne doesn't it bother you that, in order for most people (and this is most people choosing to read your thread, so there's already selection bias that should work in your favor) to understand what the heck you're saying, one of the lucky few people who can parse your sentences has to literally translate?

I mean... that's insane. How is that an acceptable situation to you? How can you not want to improve your mastery of language, at least to the point that you can write in complete, coherent sentences?
