Ok so the subject line is vague, but I wasn't sure how to describe it in brief. If memory serves me, whenever I used to put my cellphone next to my computer speakers and sometimes even in my car, and a call or text would come in, there would be this popping sound coming out of the speakers. I always assumed it was the signal getting picked up by them somehow, but I never knew the specifics.

Now though, I don't have that. I will say I now use Sprint instead of AT&T, but I'm doubting that is the reason for the change. But does anyone know why? Can anyone explain it to me? Thanks!

Well, it probably is because you moved to a CDMA instead of a GSM network.

Different phones/carriers use different transmission technologies and frequencies. Whatever you are on now is not as likely to be picked up by the amplifier circuitry for your speaker as your previous phone.

EDIT: What he said.

Yeah, I get the whole GSM/CDMA thing and I wondered if that was the case. But I know a lot of people on GSM networks and still have not heard that sound in years. Do other people still hear it?

I always know when I'm about to get a text because my PC speakers rattle. I'm on a cheap-o T-Mobile phone.
