Special code gets you a dollar off the $3 price

I downloaded it earlier and I've been listening to it for awhile. It's totally worth the two dollars. I think people who just like instrumentals or soundtracks but not video games would even like this. And I'll even admit, surprisingly, the Angry Birds theme is one of my favorites.

The whole thing is performed by the London Philharmonic Orchestra with London Voices for the singing parts. The arrangements are very impressive.

Enjoy.

Yeah,
I was spending some time trying to figure out how to buy this from Canada earlier. Sigh @ Amazon putting DRM-less mp3s behind an otherwise impenetrable geographical wall.

You can't just sign onto the American Amazon and DL it from there? I have no idea how that works.

No,
They have a geographical block for mp3s a la Hulu. Hell, with the Amazon.com gift certificates I have, the purchase is a no-brainer, but instead the Canadian site only has CDs for twice the American CD price. Argh.

Well, fiddling with Tor was a bust. Software that can climb the Great Firewall apparently can't handle amazon.com. Bah. Take my money already!

But I did find a free stream at
http://kotaku.com/video-game-music/

It's an interesting mix, a bit too modern for my tastes. The Japanese songs are obvious crowd-pleasers although between Nintendo repeatedly going back for nostalgia in recent games and Japanese orchestras that do video game music, I thought it was a bit redundant.

The western games interested me more. I actually like the GTA4 song, but Fallout 3 made no impact on me. Surprised and happy I recognised Oblivion, raised an eyebrow at no Assassin's Creed. Kinda wish there were some older games like Max Payne or MechWarrior 2, although I totally recognise that older games would have much less commercial viability and would be harder to update.

I'm surprised they chose Muse over Bounty Hunter from Advent Rising.

There's a deal thread around here somewhere, but I can't remember what it's called.

West Wing is the deal of the day.
