The movie releases right now for midnight showings (PST). I will be seeing it Friday night and I am very excited.

Anyone see a midnight showing?

I don't care if the movie could have been a little bit shorter. I just figure I get more movie time for my buck.

It was good, but I wanted subtitles for all the lines from both Batman and Bane that I couldn't understand.

I saw it at midnight.

Honestly...I found it painfully dull. I mean, Nolan had some good ideas and there was some serious potential but the execution was just dreadful. The exposition was clunky, the action was almost nonexistent, the new characters were poorly utilized.

Now, it probably doesn't help that I'm not a big Batman fan but that hadn't stopped me from enjoying the second film SO MUCH. But seeing the movie tonight really just solidifies for me how much the second movie succeeded because of Ledger's performance as the Joker. But even that movie had more and better action scenes and smarter dialogue.

The highlight of the film for me was Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Blake. So much talent there. He was one of the few characters in the entire movie that I cared about (Gary Oldman as Gordon came in at a close second.)

Batman's voice still makes me laugh. I thought Hathaway was okay as Catwoman but she was always Hathaway in a cat ears, she never disappeared in the role. Bane's voice was so ridiculous that it became nearly impossible to take him seriously. There were some twists at the end that I could kick myself for not anticipating but they really weren't payoff enough for the two hours of drudgery that came first.

Seriously, I was prepared to love this movie. We were first in line at the theater (we waited six hours) so this isn't something I strolled in preparing to hate. Alas, I'm going to stick to Marvel movies going forward.

Avengers Assemble.

No, wait. The REAL question is. . . how was the Man of Steel teaser?

An unfortunate choice of words given what happened in Colorado.

When I walked out of the theater after watching Dark Knight I said, "Boy, I wouldn't want to be Nolan right now." My wife asked me what I meant. I said, "How the hell do you follow that act?"

I sure hope DKR is good...great...but I have to hold my heart in check as I just doubt that it -can- be as amazing a conclusion that this story arch deserves.

I have subtitles on all the time, and basically won't watch a movie on Netflix without them. I sure hope they start using this option on the big screen!

Almost went to see this. In Aurora! I have friends who were likely at the century 16 for the midnight release.

I have called, I'm sitting at home making sure everyone is alive and well.

The group was actually AT the century 16. Most of them were in a group that decided the 16 was too crowded and they would have better luck elsewhere, so they ditched the line and went to another theater. But AFAIK there's two more people we can't account for yet.

The Jor-El trailer uses an almost direct quote from one of the greatest comics of all time. I couldn't be more hyped.

The Pa Kent trailer I hope is playing on how easy it would be for Supes to be Zod, but I cant be sure and that may just be wishful thinking.

The two trailers have me more excited than I've ever been for anything.

This is what Zak Snyder does. He gets you excited and then rips it all away.

Yeah, sorry about that. I didn't hear about the shooting until after I wrote that post.

I'm so sorry, Sam. I hope for the best for you and your friends.

That was the neighborhood my grandparents lived in when I was growing up and would stay with them there. It's so disturbing and I'm having a hard time dealing with humanity today.

Have you tracked down the two MIAs yet? I hope they're okay.

They're alive, and neither was shot. Mentally, it's another story. They are traumatized.

I'm glad to hear they're physically safe. I can't even imagine how horrifying that must have been (and will continue to be for some time, unfortunately), for them as well as their friends and family. I know it won't mean much from a random faceless person on the internet, but I do wish them all the best in trying to recover.

[Sidestepping the story of Colorado, I'll just post my thoughts on the movie.]

I saw it and I loved it. There are plenty of flaws to the movie, but I overlook them easily. To keep this post spoiler-free I'll agree that the exposition was clunky, especially from Alfred. I also agree that it isn't particularly action-packed, but I'm okay with that. The action that was in the movie was incredible. Using it sparingly makes the action sequences more memorable to me.

I'll also go against the fray and say I really enjoyed Bane--even the voice. I liked John Blake. I loved the cameos, even if they were pandering. (It's okay when a cameo is pandering when they're pandering to me.)

Is it as good as the first two movies? I'd probably say it was better than Batman Begins worse than The Dark Knight.

There are some truly preposterous immersion breaking scenes in the movie. There are elements that may or may not work for you (Bane and Catwoman). There are issues with pacing and writing.

Ultimately it hinges on whether you enjoy it as you're seeing it. If you enjoy it, the flaws are easy to overlook. If you don't enjoy the movie, the flaws are going to gnaw away at you and make you enjoy it even less.

Between TDK and TDKR, my mind has been blown on how different an actor can look between movies. The Joker looks/seems absolutely nothing like the knight from A Knight's Tale and and same goes for Bane and the English guy in Inception. I don't even see a resemblance. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that they're the same person.

I just realized how many actors in this were in Inception. Bane, Miranda Tate, John Blake, Alfred, and Crane. Am I missing anyone?

We're missing Ken Watanabe in TDKR. He was in Batman Begins, though.

He's in there somewhere. Rewatch the movies, and make sure you look at all the extras while you do. [Wink]
