My favorite part about this story is that the Rabbis are telling everyone how the internet is evil, and other jews around the world are watching it over an internet connection.

when extreme religious doctrines and modern conveniences come into conflict, doubtlessly the unaltered extreme religious doctrine will prevail correct

Not sure what you think that is in this case.
Chaim Kanievsky's religious orders for his sect ordering them not to have smartphones with internet access, etc, that you cannot have one according to jewish law, must burn it, and are even disallowed from selling it to a non-jew, or whatever. It's pretty out there!

I'm sarcastically saying that his doctrine, no matter how strictly manifest, will not come through unaltered by time and pressure. The odds of that ruling managing to maintain across even a single generation is very low.

Your phrasing implies that it has been unaltered up to this point. I would disagree with that.

so do i, if it's a new ruling that the religious leader is demanding of the followers. I'm saying "obviously this will not survive unchanged" because in pretty much all cases these conflicts eventually go towards the incorporation of technology

*shrug*
It's not really that new; the group in question has essentially banned the Internet for at least 10 years. As they have banned TV for over 50.
