I know some of you guys are really good with computers, and I can't find the right phrasing for google to answer my question, so some help would be appreciated.

I'm dualbooting Ubuntu 12.04 and Windows XP, Ubuntu from a terabyte drive and XP from a measly 75gig drive. Is there anyway to partition some space on the terabyte drive so I can use it from XP? I have some 300 gigs unused space on the terabyte drive, and I can't fit all of my video games in the 75 gigs.

Or would it just be better/easier to get another hard drive? (I am slowly running out of space anyway)

I am a big fan of new hard drives, however a free solution to your problem is GParted. It is a fairly simple solution. If you are already dual booting you are probably savvy enough to use the tool.

Essentially you boot off the disc, and then you can designate any part of any hard drive as a new partition. You can even format it in FAT32, NTFS, or any other format. It should not destroy your data, but anytime you are repartitioning hard drives it is wise to make back ups.

Once you have it in NTFS or FAT32 you can copy files over or install programs to it.
