Found it here. So far I've only listened to a couple of tracks, but I like what I've heard thus far. I'm far from a music critic, but I enjoy the mix of "big, bombastic Hollywood soundtrack" and "small, intimate independent film score. I don't buy or listen to a lot of soundtracks, and I doubt I'll buy this one. There aren't many memorable themes, or anything unique that really stands out. That said, it'll be interesting to see how it fits in with the actual film. That's the best test of a soundtrack's worth.

Any of Hatrack's resident music critics want to weigh in on this one?

It's a decent score - much better than I was afraid of, for Jablonsky. It's pretty standard neo-minimalism, with a few motifs that pretend to be themes (somewhat successfully, but since they're not quite long enough, I don't think they'll be memorable enough in the long run). I like the fact that there's still a good acoustic sound, even with all the science fiction electronic sounds and effects. I haven't done a close listen for repetition of themes, and those probably won't make as much sense until they're attached to the film anyway, but it's a much better listen than I was expecting, and I'm happy about that.

Thanks for the link. I'm definitely not an expert, but I always fall hopelessly in love with movie soundtracks if they're any good. They will often make or break a movie for me.

I agree with millernumber1 that the theme is a bit hard to find here. Nonetheless, I like what I hear. That means I'll probably be a slobbering idiot if the emotional elements of the movie mesh at all well with the score.

I'm curious about How We Win Matters. Some of that music has a feel to it that could potentially point to the hive queen and maybe the Giant's Drink game Ender plays. If that element is included in the movie and has this sort of feel, that's exciting. (I could be completely wrong, however.)

Suffice it to say the score is very well done. Hopefully the movie will follow suit.

I'm still a little disappointed that they didn't hire Arlen Card to write the score.

It's nice. But it's sort...I don't know, boiler plate? Like this is the standard blue print for what these kinds of movies are supposed to sound like. It's not overly memorable, none of the themes are particularly interesting, catchy, or stand out. But it does a serviceable job of being good and fitting.

Maybe that experience will change in context, but it's something I'm unlikely to listen to on my own.

Similar reservations here that have already been mentioned, but I definitely like what I'm hearing. Enough to spend the #10 on iTunes, in fact (the additional 50 cents is worth the convenience of direct download). I'll give it a solid listen on the hour long drive to my parents' this evening and report back.

A nice bit I liked in the movie was whenever Ender was supposed to be doing something strategic, the score sounded like the background music to someone painting or writing or otherwise something artistic and inspired.
