I went last night with a friend, and we waited in line for 20 minutes. Then we had to buy tickets for a late showing, because all the upcoming showings were sold out.
The theater was packed, and people were excited. It was like the glory days of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter all over again. (I don't have much of a social life, so this kind of stuff excites me.)
I loved the movie. I thought Elizabeth Banks as Effie was especially amazing. I'm not a big fan of her and always found her kind of mediocre. Boy was I wrong! It wasn't a perfect film, but the excitement of the audience and a packed house made for a great movie.
From the energy of the audience and how they reacted to the ending, I think this film is going to perform beyond expectations. And it deserves to. I felt they captured the spirit of the books with the first Hunger Games and improved on it with Catching Fire.

I read the books, and while they weren't the BEST (or most original) books I've read, I enjoyed them.
I also enjoyed the first movie, and will pay to see the second. Most of the reviews I have read say that this film is better than the first.
Plus.....Jennifer Lawrence. I love Jennifer Lawrence. My wife makes the joke that the only reason I wanted to see Silver Linings Playbook was to see Jennifer Lawrence in yoga pants, and maybe that was a little true. But hey, I know the only reason she wanted to see it was for Bradley Cooper!
