Naturally, the only mention in my facebook feed was a screenshot of the news that was primarily about how the person managed to take a flight that landed before it took off thanks to time zones.
I know nothing about the monarchy except that there are many prices and princessses.

On one hand, it's good that the succession seems to be so orderly and calm. A messy succession would be horrible in all sorts of ways. So the king is dead, long live the king!
On the other hand, it's also pretty boring. Thousands of princes and the most interesting thing that happens when the old guy pops off is an unscheduled press conference?
Sometimes my brain needs to reminded that reality is a thing with people in it.

Don't kid yourself. Salman bin Abdulaziz has to pass from power as well before anything exciting or different can happen, and the house of Saud will continue to hold enough power to carry on exactly as before.
