I've always been a fan of Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II - I actually think that they were the best RPG games to have ever been created. Couple of years back I've learned that a community of people who were unhappy with Neverwinter Nights and the turn that RPG took, decided to crowdsourcingly create a BG inspired game. And it came out. And it's pretty good.
Just wanted to let you know if you're maybe into to this as I am. Wish I had as much time as when BG and BG II came out, something close to 20 years ago Now I can't get more than 30 minutes together to play.

I could have written that post word for word. Just can't seem to find the time these days to play a game I paid for years ago. :\

My coworker keeps talking about this game and I keep meaning to play it. Time is not something I have a lot of, unfortunately. :/

Could I play this on a non-gaming laptop? I have an Intel i5-5200u processor, 6 gigs of RAM, and some standard integrated graphics.

You can, I have a completely non-gaming laptop and I play. I just diminished the resolution. It's even better, makes it look like an old game a little more

My wife's out of town until Sunday, so I finally, finally have a whole weekend to myself with nothing to do but play this game.
I've been playing it for the past 6 hours or so. It's everything I hoped for and more.
I can't even remember when the last time I played an old school RPG like this was. I've found my patience and attention span aren't nearly the same for games now. Like, the character creation process takes about 15-20 minutes (if you're like me and look at every possible character and every skill and stat), and the game has a long, slow opening to help pull you in to the incredibly deep game world, and I've honestly been forcing myself to stay focused and not try to rush through everything and just enjoy the adventure.
Games are so much more fast paced nowadays, it's kind of a shock getting back into the pacing and depth of an infinity engine game.
