So I'm thinking about the part in Ender's Game where in the final battle, Bean casually blurts out "the enemy's gate is down." It seemed so flippant and light-hearted at the time I initially read the book.

But, when I read Ender's Shadow, everything Bean said was thought out and calculated.

How much, if any, awareness or plans did OSC have to write Bean's perspective in Shadow when he was writing Game?

I think he wrote EG while channeling Ender, and later, as a more mature writer, he revaluated what it would have taken to accomplish the results and applied Bean to be the fixer.

However, I specifically remember in EG Ender puzzling when he got the dragon roster if someone picked them for HIM or if he could have had the same results w any battles school cadets, so Card was definitely leaving himself room for expansion.
