I have a brotehr who frequents the young writers board and he called to my attention a malicious spam attack which lead to the board's going under. Although this topic doesn't directly realte with writing, I was wondering if anyone knew anything about it.

It is my sincerest wish that the perpetrator be banned and the board return to full capacity as soon as possible, though I do not use it I have family (my brother) and a few friends who do. I know I enjoyed using it a few years ago before I turned 18.

Did anyone else see the horrible messages or am I the sole witness of the attack?

I have caught wind of a few rumors, even some with names as to perpetrators but I will protect their anonymity as i have no evidence to support any argument against them or for them.

I am certain that the moderators and emplyees who run this webpage will have teh whole thing cleared up in no time, and i hope so!

I have a very strong bias against internet pranking, as I have been a victim, even here at Hatrack. I used to participate on teh Young Writer's board and I remember one day a user called "Hitler" or "nazi" (I don't remember) spammed several pages and was the ultimate reason Hatrack no longer allows you to create your own password initially. (At least this is my own conclusion from my own observation.)

I never saw Hitler/Nazi again, but I have had it with spam in my e-mail and would enjoy a prank/solicit free internet. Though such a dream may never come, I would hope that Hatrack remains secure. Were I any kind of programmer I would be happy to extend whatever services I could, to help them solve the problem.

A very disgruntled and possibly hostile

Honestly I think there is more involved here than the juvenile vs adult maturity issue. Sure we can't expect them to behave as civily as we do, though speaking for myself I'm only a few years difference, and still I am thinking this sort of people has to do with a certain . . personailty type (?) or something. A type of people, maybe? I was thinking of a way to turn this into a good thing and so I'm trying to analyze the havoc friendly mind for purposes of character development in literature. Anyone else have any thoughts, observations, or opinions? I feel vaguely like I'm talking to myself.

I was wondering about the soldiers and the flowers myself. Good one.

I started out in the young writers forum when I was around 16 or 17. Now I am 20, so that forum no longer applies to me.

We had a pretty close knit community there a while ago, before it all went down the tubes. I haven't much talked to many of the old members recently, but they are still around...

So to answer, at least one "Young Writer" is still right here.
