This is a correction to a comment I made in a thread that is now closed...I'd'a posted it right there if it were still open...
I said I'd written two novels before I was twenty and seven or eight since. The "two novels" claim holds up, but, to my amazement, I find I've written a total of eleven novels.
I'm counting "a novel" as anything I wrote that went over fifty thousand words, whether I finished it or not, though.

Published? Not a one. Actually, that's a blessing, 'cause the ones I finished, except possibly the last one (finished circa 2000), were really, really, really bad.
It's the ones I didn't finish that oppress me. One I worked on in the early eighties, about thirty thousand words in before it died on me...then came back to about early 2001, at a much later point in the story, and wrote ten thousand words. (My word count here includes some substantial outlines and notes.) At the time, I thought that ten thousand words were the best I'd ever done...but I haven't reread it since then...
At least my current project hasn't died---I just stopped 'cause I was "winging it," making it up as I went along, and I wanted to take the time to make notes on what I'd written and then continue. I actually started the outline Sunday, the first bit of writing-writing I'd done since stopping in September.

Wow I'm only sitting on one novel, and one novella and really only one short story, (that's not true, I have more shorts, but the other ones are still in differing levels of editing)
