OK. Trying again. Now I'm hoping this isn't a triple post. I'M SO CONFUSED! Again, my deepest apologies to Kathleen, but I had trouble with the server on my previous tries, they didn't show up on the list, and being one of those people who just keeps clicking away when nothing is happening and the computer is getting so backlogged with my impatient clicks that it would have trouble multiplying 2 X 2 without giving itself a cyber-hernia, I had to try it again.

Anyway, I cranked out this little story about a year ago. It's meant to be text for a pseudo-children's picture book. By pseudo I mean one that both children and adults enjoy. It's called Doris's Day, and it starts out something like this:

God created the earth and planted a beautiful garden. He filled it with all sorts of living things—little creepy things, big lumbering things, things that grew out of the earth, and things that swam in the water. He called the garden Eden and dropped a man right into the middle of it. God called the man Adam.

Poor Adam was all alone in Eden with nothing to do. So, as God suggested, he named the creatures that roamed the garden with him.

God came back and told Adam to take a nap. He slept for a long time. When Adam finally woke up he found another animal in the garden with him. An animal that looked like him. Sort of.

“Adam,” God said. “This is your wife.”

“My wife?” asked Adam. “What's a wife?"

"A friend," God said. "A companion. She will be with you always."

Adam shrugged. "Well, OK. But what is her name?”

“That,” replied God, “is for you to decide.

“I will call her Doris,” declared Adam proudly.

I love it! You can send it on to me, if you like, though I'm not very experienced with this sort of thing. I'm sure my kids would love it, too!

Hey, Lullaby Lady, thanks. But I'm not showing an e-mail address for you. If you'd rather not post in on the site you can e-mail me first and I'll send it on to you by reply post with an attachment.

Hope your kids enjoy it. My older ones did, I'm not sure my five-year-old understood it all that well.

Text only, Survivor. I understand that that's how one submits children's book projects to publishers.

Hi! Sorry, I would have responded sooner, but I've been away. If you're still looking for readers, I'd love to take a gander.

Hmm. I think it would make a great story, becuase it will also entertain the person reading it to the child.
