I received the acceptance email for my story "Back In My Day" in the early hours of this morning from Daily Science Fiction.
It is a 1000 word piece - I posted the First 13 in Fragments and Feedback here. Thank you everybody for your help.
Needless to say, I am very happy! It is my first sale of any story to any market ever.
In other news, my short story "Life of Wendy" is a finalist in the NZ Writers' College Short Story Competition 2011. Not quite so well known as some other competitions, however the prize money is not something to be sneered at.
Was very surprised to see it among the top 25, it is a science fiction story and as far as I can tell, the college and competition sways very much on the literary side of things. Well, there must have been something in it that somebody liked.
All in all - October has been a good month so far!
