My name is Thane, and I'm just starting what I hope to be a fun, challenging, frustrating, crazy, and altogether enjoyable attempt at writing long fiction.
I’ve been an avid OSC reader for 10 years, and a regular Hatrack reader for about three months. Never had anything published, other than a couple of poems and a short story in a high school newsletter. I have finally decided to try my hand at some historical fantasy.
I've been married to my smart, wonderful, amazing, and supportive wife for about 8 years, and we have a 3 1/2 year old daughter who makes us both laugh when she isn’t making us pull our hair out.
You might have noticed the odd username... I am a policy and program auditor/evaluator for a large government organization that shall remain unnamed (though I'm pretty sure that all of you published authors out there have donated a portion of your earnings to my employer...). I write non-fiction (no Enron-style accounting for me), researchy / recommendy type report-things for a living. So, I thought that I might as well try my hand at the thing that I've ALWAYS wanted to do.
About 3 months ago, I realized that I was moving inexorably towards 40 and the beginning of the second half of my life (I hope). I also decided that waiting until the “right time” to start something that is as self driven and demanding as writing makes about as much sense as standing at the upwind end of a runway and trying to thumb a ride on a plane.
So, with that said, I look forward to the beginning of a beautiful friendship with many of you.
