"The Changeling's Door"

Forgot to add the "e" when I wrote the title.]

This is from Mike's second flash challenge. I've changed some stuff and (hopefully) fleshed out some motivations without adding too much weight.

It's almost 570 words and it's fantasy/horror. Because it's so short, I'm only putting the first few lines up.

Linda froze on the third step from the basement floor. Her eyes locked onto the little door in the wall, waiting for the doorknob to jiggle again. She cursed softly. It had been too long since the last time and she'd gotten complacent.

(I screwed up my title in my topic, too... I hope no one noticed. I'm a bit embarrassed.)
