Well, I assume that many of us here are science fiction writers (or at least science fiction readers), which means that discussions about ways to make our interstellar technologies seem plausible is sure to arise. Unless we aren't doing anything with interstellar technology, in which case this will just be a sort of useless topic. But then again, it's clearly labeled as being a topic about interstellar technology, so only those interested in interstellar technology are likely to check this topic out.
And let's face it. I always want to have at least one science and technology topic, and Hey, what happened to Science Discussion? is now too long to be interesting. Well, you can go there and judge it for yourself, if you like.
Anyway, I'm interested in discussing neat stuff like interstellar drives, and computer controled probes, and tactical models that arise from the use of space weapons, and the strategies that those tactics engender in turn, and the relative elements of interstellar commerce, and law, and empire, and whatnot.

Now, I'm going to make an assumption that I believe is very justified about future technology.
I think that we can expect to have unlimited power from fusion before we develop a workable interstellar technology. I say this because fusion technology is within reach given even a modestly serious investment in developing the technology. In fact, the best current interstellar drive technologies, such as ion drives, laser beam propulsion, and the like, cannot be developed without making fusion possible.
