Hey,

I'm trying to find a good place to track down out-of-print books. I've checked through Amazon, Amazon's Zshops, bestbookbuys.com and alibris.com.

Anybody know another good place?

(Better yet -- anybody have a copy of Prospects for Interstellar Travel, by Maulidin, they want to sell?)

Thanks!

Alibris.com (the industry leader for out of print books) or through the Hard to Find book search at www.booksamillion.com; Bamm.com uses Alibris for this feature, but you may find better prices/shipping. Good luck!

When I saw the title of this thread, the first website I thought of is www.powells.com. It's the homepage for Powell's Books, which bills itself as the largest new & used bookstore in the country. They're not kidding...the main store takes up a city block in downtown Portland, and not just one floor's worth. They offer maps for free at the entrance, and you'll need it if you've never been there.

Yes... But since I work for Bamm.com, I couldn't possibly in good conscience recommend you try anywhere else...

Everybody,

Thanks! Although the specifiic book I was looking for is hopelessly rare, those websites you referred me to have sucked $30 out of my pockets on different books.

Appreciate it!

I've had great success looking for rare books at www.abebooks.com and www.bibliofind.com (I think that's associated with www.amazon.com now, and I see you've already tried them).

Have you been on the Lost Books site? It is attached to Hatrack, and there is a section there about finding "lost" books, but only in the "speculative fiction" genre.

Hey, thanks again everybody -- I was finally able to find that book!

It cost more used than it would have new six years ago, but I don't mind -- I wanted the book! Supply and demand, eh?

Now that I have my copy, I recommend y'all read Prospects For Interstellar Travel, Mauldin, if you ever want the real scoop on space flight.
