Yes, yes. This is my first day here, so of course I have to ask a question. Please forgive me in my time of newbie-ism.

I was browsing through the forums where people appeared to be posting their short stories (or novels?) bit by bit and getting critiques on them. However, each post of story was only about a paragraph long. Are we supposed to post our stories paragraph by paragraph?

I know this probably sounds silly. *sigh* But all I saw were short posts. It just had me curious.

The posts in the group areas are where the crit groups post no more than 13 lines of their story---the rest goes to the other members in e-mail. Many groups never have a post it area at all. And this fourm is not the place to post your work for crit.

Further down there is a thread for asking someone to read something if you are not in a group yet.

The main reason for this is to prevent your work from being considered "published" if you should ever decide to try to publish it.

OH, and welcome aboard.

Shawn

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

Yes, I gathered that this forum is definitely not the place to post your writings. ::grins:: Thanks for clearing up the "13 line" issue. It has all been made clear.

And now, a moment of zen....

So all those forums marked Group 1, Group 2, etc.... Those are writing groups? So I guess I shouldn't post there either, eh?

Then I have one final question. How do I join a group?

~Heather

You need a password to post in the groups. There are so many empty ones becasue not all the groups use theirs.

I've been around two years now I think. I think the link to the groups join area is on the home page. Though I could be wrong.

Start at

http://www.hatrack.com/writers/writers/index.shtml

which will tell you how the writers groups work.

After you've read that page, please select "How to Join" which is in the column on the left side of the webpage. This will take you to a page where you can read about joining a group.

After you've read that, please select "Please fill out this form" which will take you to a page where you can enter the answers to the questions for our application form.

Once you've filled out the form and sent it on to me, I will work on finding or creating a group for you to participate in. It make take a few weeks before there are enough other people with the same interests as you, but I will contact you about a group as soon as possible.
