Remember the Alan Sorkal affair? Sorkal was the NYU Professor of Physics whose paper "Trangressing the Boundries: Towards a Transformative Hermeneutics of Quantum Gravity" was published in "Social Text," Duke University's social studies journal. Unknown to the editors of "Social Text" was that Sorkal's paper was a parody, a hoax, that, if nothing else, highlighted the incoherence that is today's humanities vocabulary.

Give it a read; it's like going back to college.

In a sense, if textual nihilism holds, the works of Joyce are not postmodern. A number of narratives concerning a self-sufficient whole may be found.
