I don't know if this is the right area, but I have a question regarding emphasis within dialogue. If the writer wants to emphasis a particular to stress its importance, how should that be done? With an underline? Italics?

Thanks, Mav

If in final published form something should be italicized, it should be underlined in manuscript form. Emphasized words would qualify, with the caution of not overdoing emphasized words.
