But you know someone's going to use it soon.
I don't know if anyone heard about this, but I just did, and it reminded me of a story King did. Not to mention, uh, Castaway.
They found another survivor of the Tsunami. He had been on an island that was hit by the waves. Survived 25 days.
That will be story fodder for months.

Good thing the bloke wasn't allergic to coconuts, like my brother-in-law is. Imagine that, stranded on an island with only coconuts for sustenance and being allergic to them. That would be some irony.

I don't know what exactly to reply to this, since I'm new, but one of my sister's classmates died while on vacation down there, and the school's principal had a long segment on her during an assembly. It's been a bit controversial, and I was wondering what other people thought of this sort of thing. Of course I think that we should tell stories in remembrance of a disaster of such magnitude, but where should the line be drawn between a thoughtful remembrance and just milking a story? I'm sure that we'll be seeing books and photo collections coming out soon for a profit, sort of like what happened with 9/11.

I don't think there is a line. Some people mean well, some are just milking, and often you can't even tell the one from the other. But as long as anyone gets some meaning from the experience then it can't be all bad, even if the motivation is.
