I am considering entering this and like Robyn_Hood, I would like to post in the frag & feedback section as I go along. My question is, would this be considered fan-fic and therefore posting here be discouraged?

I don't have tons of time to post, but I have found that when I can, I always get something positive out of it, both sending and receiving crits. Even when I don't post, just reading here has helped me.

Another question to any who have read white wolf novels, do you find that the novels thus far seem to excluded any type of humor? Some of the best books I have read have humorous situations as a means of a release from the tension. I have not noticed this in the WW novels.

We regularly crit contest entries over there, so that isn't a problem. The key is that you're really seeking to get help making the story good enough to meet some meaningful standard. If it's just something that you're going to put on your website anyway, then people tend not to their input would do much good. In cases where their help could make the difference between winning and losing, there's more willingness to lend a hand.

Humor exists at various levels. If you aren't noticing any in the WW novels, then you might not be well qualified to write one. Or you might not be thinking of the humor that is there as overtly "funny". Just because a cultured incongruity doesn't serve as a means of dissapating dramatic tension, that doesn't disqualify it as being humorous in a certain sense.

I suppose that the humor in the WW novels probably trends towards the black end of the spectrum. If you are able to enjoy it even without finding it "funny", that's okay. But if you can't enjoy it or don't even see it, then you might want to reconsider spending a lot of effort on this market.

But you don't have to decide now, probably some of the critiques you get will address this issue enough for you to get an idea of how well you're doing.
